Memories in the Making

A National Alzheimer's Association creative art program offered in collaboration with the YMCA of Greater Westfield. This program meets once a week at the Mercy Adult Center in Westfield. It offers individuals with early to middle stages of Alzheimer's disease the opportunity to creatively express themselves in the form of watercolor painting. For those with dementia, facing an increasing loss in the ability to use words, this program offers them the opportunity to paint their thoughts and emotions in a manner that is both expressive and beautiful. Participants gain self-confidence and experience a feeling of accomplishment as they see the tangible reward for their efforts in the form of a painting. Memories in the Making meet on Fridays from 10:00AM to 11:30AM. Program is on-going. Individuals may join at anytime, though class size is limited.
